Restoring vegetation cover in the savannas
Managing and restoring natural savanna habitats is one of SOS Savane's core activities. The aim is to restore vegetation cover and soils where it makes ecological sense, working with local communities, schools and technical services.
Our work combines growing seedlings in nurseries, planting native species and supporting farmers in adopting biodiversity-friendly practices. To date, 22,000 hectares have been reforested.
As part of the Hooded Vulture conservation project, for example, 27.41 hectares of nesting and feeding areas were restored with 2,400 seedlings of native species.
