Ecotourism
What is ecotourism?
Ecotourism means travelling responsibly in natural areas. It offers the chance to discover remarkable landscapes, wildlife and plants while preserving the environment and supporting the local people who live at the heart of these areas.
For SOS Savane, ecotourism is a way to share the richness of the savannas, to raise visitors’ awareness of their fragility and to promote tourist attractions for the benefit of local communities.

The principles of ecotourism
Respect for nature
Observe wildlife and plants without disturbing them, stay on the trails and preserve natural habitats.
Benefits for local communities
Use local guides, craftspeople and producers so that tourism benefits local people.
Education and awareness
Understand savanna ecosystems and the challenges of their conservation, before, during and after the visit.
Low impact
Limit your waste, water and energy use, and choose low-impact ways of getting around.
